AP - Synopsis.jpg

Alysia
I’ve lived in shadows all of my life
Feeling empty, but never knowing what I was truly missing
I’ve been taught to hide my talents and be invisible
Until Kendrix walks into my life and sees me. All of me.
I know he is my destiny, but he is holding himself back
There is something he isn’t telling me
I’m afraid when the truth comes out, it will tear us apart

Kendrix
I made a choice to give up my soul and forever alter my destiny
I embraced abilities that I’d kept hidden
But they don’t make up for what I’ve lost
It seems a cruel trick of Fate that I finally met the one who was meant to be mine
And yet, I can never have her
My job is to deceive Alysia and ultimately, to give her up
But the darkness calls to me
Tempting me to hide in the shadows with her forever

Prologue
Kendrix

Hell is often portrayed as a burning pit of fire. However, I’m beginning to wonder if Dante had it right. It seems logical to believe that there are nine levels of hell that are broken down into something like another eighteen circles. Each one different, each one designated to specific sins, and each one with their own unique atmosphere, not all of which are hot  with fire. Where I stand, right now, is one circle of Hell. But, it is cold and dark, filled with misery at knowing what I’ve left behind and what is stretched before me. I do my best no to dwell on what was, because there is no greater pain than remembering times of love and joy, when they are forever out of your reach. You cannot pluck them from the past, and you’ll never find them in your future.

The only thing I have to cling to is my purpose, the reason I made the choice to fall into my own level of Hell.  A small fraction of my soul is tightly gripped, enough to remind me what I must do and why I have no choice but to succeed. Beyond that, I have no comprehension of what my future holds after this assignment. I’m finally embracing my abilities as a fate reader, but I am blind to my own destiny. What I see before me is an eternal stretch of blackness.
Z
I can only try my best not to fully succumb to evil. But, if I’m bound to live in darkness forever, is there really any other choice?

AP - about the author.jpg

I’m a lover of all things books, a hopeless romantic, and have always had a passion for writing. Between being a sappy romantic, my love of an HEA, my crazy imagination, and ok, let’s be real, my dirty mind, I fell easily into writing romance.
I’m a huge baseball fan and yet, a complete girly, girl. I’m an obsessive reader and have a slight (hahaha! Slight? Yeah, right) addiction to signed books.
I’m married to my very own book boyfriend, an alpha male with a sexy, sweet side. He is the best inspiration, my biggest supporter and the love of my life. He is also incredibly patient and understanding about the fact that he has to fight the voices in my head for my attention.
I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoyed writing them!

Complicate Me by M. Robinson

Title: Complicate Me
Author: M. Robinson
Date of Publication: September 12, 2015
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Synopsis:
It was complicated, it was also just the beginning.
A decision.
A simple choice.
There is always that one moment in life where things could have been different. That one moment where you could have chosen a path that would lead you down a certain road.
A different life.
It was easier to pretend that we were still best friends, and that she was my girl and I was her boy.
Pretending was better than knowing the truth...
I. Ruined. Us.
I had her.
I lost her.
I love her.
All I did was complicate us.

Summary and Review:
Half-Pint (Alex) and Bo (Lucas) have known each other their entire lives. Growing up in a town Of Oak Island, North Carolina that during the summer was filled with tourist, and only has a few permanent residents year round, you become close with the ones who stick around when the weather cools off. While the story focuses on Half-Pint and Bo, the entire cast plays a huge role in the overall journey these two characters must take in order to obtain their happily ever after. Half-Pint and Bo’s story is a coming of age story where angst is almost an understatement. When all your friends are boys it’s easy to be seen as just another one of the fellas. It’s also easy to forget that when you grow up knowing everything about each other, that people change and you can’t always pin point when it happened. Boys become horny teens, who become men, and girls become hormonal young women, who well who am I kidding, they grow up to be hormonal adult women. Struggling to find themselves, their lives seem to never seem to put them on the path to each other, until one simple question changes everything!

Complicate Me is the first book in The Good Ol’ Boys series and was my first M. Robinson book, and well let’s just say I’m hooked. This book made me laugh and cry within the same page, and spend a few chapters with my heart in my throat. I picked this book up as my first book for 2016 after hearing so many wonderful things about it from fellow readers. It took me all of two days to finish it, simply because I couldn’t put it down.  The storyline, character, everything drew me in and I have no doubt that others will love it as well.

The Good Ol’ Boys series continues with Forbid Me, the story of Lily and Jacob, and Undo Me, the story of Aubrey and Dylan. It is important to note that these books are part of a series, but they can be read as a standalone just as easily. I give credit to M. Robinson for writing a series of books in this manner, appealing to the standalone and series readers alike, it is simply brilliant! For more about M. Robinson and her books, visit her website HERE. Blurb:

It’s hard living on the wrong side of the tracks.

Lowen Seely has a criminal record to prove it. Determined not to follow in his father’s footsteps, he fights instinct and tries honesty. But hunger becomes painful, and bills are due. Forced to choose between what is right and wrong, the boy from the hood learns abiding by the rules is nearly impossible when corruption is in your blood.

Falling for an outlaw has changed everything.

Poesy Ashby is the definition of ride or die, even when it means turning her back on freedom. The girl from the suburbs gives conformity the middle finger. Bonnie and Clyde have nothing on her love story.

On the run with consequences in the rearview mirror, Lowen and Poesy accept the truth: they are the bad guys.

But can they get away with their crimes?

Complicate Me

Have you ever read a book that you were so attached to that you cry when the characters cry, you laugh when they laugh? This book was like that for me. I chose this book as my first read for 2016 and let me tell you it did not disappoint! I can't wait to share my review with you this Friday as my first official review of the year.

Monday, December 28, 2015

Just a little introduction...

...This is really just a fun way for me to keep a record of all the books I read. Over the course of this past year I read over 100 books! I love to read and if I could do absolutely nothing all day but sit and read a book, I would say I had a pretty productive day.  Alas, I do not have that luxury and have found myself getting half way through a book only to realize I already know how this one ends. Now don't get me wrong, I will re-read a book, there are actually several in which I would happily re-read everyday. But who are we kidding, every book doesn't speak to me and while I may have found the book enjoyable enough to finish they don't all warrant the time it takes to read again.

So thanks for stopping by and please feel free to leave comments on a review, as I love to know what others think of the books I read as well.

Happy Braking!
Laci
